The highlight of my year is without question my annual trip to France. Fishing in France has never been better, and a week away fishing one of Frances exclusive lakes is a great way to spend your hard earned wages.

Every person has their own preferences and expectations as to what they want out of their trip to France a 30, 40 or 50 pounder or maybe just a new PB, but the main criteria for me is something not readily available is an entire lake to myself!

In England my pet hate is a lake crammed ridiculously full of anglers. 

I can understand exactly why many fishery owners just want to get as many bums on bedchairs as possible, but at times it can take the fun out of fishing.

Due to work commitments I don’t get the chance to fish as much as I would like so my rare ventures onto the bank are very precious to me.  I’m not an unsociable angler but like many I just want to fish and relax, and not worry about whose casting across my lines, or the lads trying to squeeze their bivvy in next to me and the bloke in the next swim, or get looked at like an alien with 3 heads if I’m not one of the known “faces” on that lake.

So if I’m spending a pretty penny on my one full holiday in the year then a bit of peace and tranquillity and some quality fishing is a MUST for me.  What better way to experience this than to have a lake all to ourselves, just me, my other half, and my fishing buddies!

When I go away there in generally 3-4 of us that go together so the cost of an exclusive lake is split between us making it an affordable option. Most fishing holiday companies and lake owners in France, now offer lakes to be hired “exclusively” to your party for the week, so you really are spoiled for choice.

Like me, you will probably want to find out as much information about the lake your going to spend a week at long before you actually go.  After trawling through various search engines and un-answered posts on various carp fishing forms I noticed a real lack of informative, independent views or reviews of these lakes.

So as well as documenting some of the highlights of my much-loved trips, I hope to provide you, the reader, with as much information about the places we’ve been lucky enough to visit in recent times.

Many lakes survive on reputation alone and don’t need any random web sites singing its praises but if I have a successful trip, then I’ll write about it.
